Stop Panic Attacks with Belfast Hypnotherapy - Alan Gilchrist
A panic attack
is a horrific experience.
There seems to be no rhythm or rhyme to them and like harbingers of doom, they
carry fear and terror as luggage! They surge out of nowhere, for no specific
reason and they can last for minutes or hours. Neither sleep nor being relaxed
offers an escape, as even then, they can suddenly appear.
The Symptoms of a panic attack:
•
Nervousness •
Agitation •
Rapid heartbeat •
Disrupted sleep pattern
•
Shaking •
Dizziness •
Faintness •
A tight throat •
Apprehensive feelings
•
The sensation of choking •
A tight chest •
Sweating •
Unsteadiness on foot
•
Feelings of instability and an
inability to cope.
One of the worst and most significant symptoms is a fear of impending doom. There is no specific fear, but sufferers are simply certain that something terrible is about to happen and they await this with terror. They await this doom to befall themselves or their loved ones and then, the vicious cycle of, ‘what if?’ suddenly appears. What if this happens or that? How will I cope if it does?
Panic attacks can deteriorate over time, gradually growing worse and even the duration can increase. Eventually, the sufferer begins to feel endangered without any visible escape route, they’ll corner themselves into their house and refuse to leave them. Just in case.
The prospect of another panic attack can often be a trigger too. This is very common and prompts a sufferer into becoming obsessed with their own anxiety issues. They will dwell on the negative, from death or potential catastrophes that could befall them, as well as illnesses which could kill them.
Internal, physical disaster rests at the
epicentre of a panic attack. And this is the psychological root. Fear of
illnesses, be they heart attacks, cancer or a mental disorder, are the core
issue.
