Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy - A part of my Life!
When I began practising over 25 years ago in Belfast naming my centre the Belfast Hypnotherapy Centre, I never dreamed I would also have European clinics on the Costa Blanca in Spain as well, which I go to on a regular basis.
Many people often ask me about my particular style of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
and why is different from the conventional way.
This all stems back to my early years as a Hypnotherapist in Belfast when
I first started in practice in the early 80's.
Back then Hypnotherapy was a completely new alternative
treatment and people viewed it with great scepticism. Having been trained
as an Analytical Hypnotherapist, I opened a small office in
Belfast and started to treat clients.
It was then that one of the Sunday newspapers
decided to do a feature on me. From that article word started to get
about there I could help to sort people out with their problems.
From that one write up it just started to snowball. I saw the employed, unemployed, multi millionaires, TV, Radio and sports personalities,
children, people from just about every walk of life (to date I have seen well over 55,000 + people).
In just a short space of time I had 7 Hypnosis Clinics throughout Northern Ireland with the main Hypnosis Centre in Belfast and working 7 days a week flat out. People were coming to see me for various problems, among them the most common ones such as Stopping Smoking or to Lose Weight. Indeed I have also done clinics in Scotland , England and even Holland as well.
However, being in practice as a Hypnotherapist in Belfast , Northern Ireland was completely different from the Mainland UK. This was due to the many victims of the troubles. In the early years of the conflict counselling was very limited or non existent, so I had to help many thousands of people caught up in the various situations. This ranged from the rescue service personnel who had to go into the aftermath of bombings, to people caught up in bombings, shootings, bomb scares, armed robberies, the list was endless.
For example, One time a woman came to see me with a problem
of chronic insomnia,
this was due to the fact that when she woke up one night 4 gunmen were
standing around her bed! No wonder she had insomnia!
Then there was the survivor from the Kegworth air disaster who needed to overcome their fear of flying,
which they did. There
are countless stories just like these that I had to deal with, and I am sure that no other Hypnotherapist
had to do what I had to !
Even today, sadly, I still get people with similar problems coming to see me at my
Northern Ireland Hypnosis Clinics.
It was because of this, I had no alternative but to came away from my conventional training
of Analytical Hypnotherapy in which the client would be regressed into their childhood to try to recall the originating cause of their panic attacks, or other problems
and then attempt to resolve it.
This could take them up to 15 or more sessions to achieve, when clearly it wasn't in their childhood at all, it had happened right then!
These people had suffered quite enough and just simply wanted sorted out as quickly as possible. They simply wanted to be able to get on with their lives and move on. And that is exactly what I did. I devised a Fast Track System to do this and I still continue to use my method to this very day!
